What I liked

I love the people at In N Out. We have a very team oriented environment geared towards achieving a common goal. I also think they have given me a much valued trait to think quickly and solve problems. There are constantly times where there could be an issue with one of our products or one of our customers and it needs to be resolved quickly and correctly.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have devoted more time to the company and grow even faster. I have been going back and forth with the school and football and that has hindered my progress but hasn't kept them from teaching me many things.

Advice

Work hard and you will reap the rewards!

July 2018 - October 2019 • Porter Ranch, CA

What I liked

The pay was great, a lot of benefits, and the company likes to gift us items for our hard work.

What I wish was different

A lot of micromanaging, constant visits from the DM and other heads of the company made for a somewhat toxic work environment because of the different perspectives of the job. Such as, wanting sales but not realizing the area is not that busy, wanting to maximize productivity but only giving associates who are part time 6 hour shifts. In addition, there is poor understanding for scheduling, if you need time off for school or are unavailable, you will still be called to come in.

Advice

This is a very tight and conservative company, don't expect to have a lot of freedom of expression. Follow the rules and do your best to stay busy, standing around even for a few seconds will have management asking you “what are you doing?” Its very fast paced, and not for those who are not quick thinking and action driven.

February 2016 • Santee, CA

What I liked

The flexibility with school and the ability to work up to 30 hours and make above minimum wage.

What I wish was different

Very fast-paced and can seem daunting when you are first hired. Training is something that the company has been very recently emphasizing.

Advice

This is a great job for anyone looking to work while in school and wants to make above minimum wage. You are introduced to the service industry specifically customer service, along with a big business model. INO is not a franchise and is still family-owned. It is super educational to see how for over 70 years they have not only maintained, but grown a business from just one store in Baldwin Park, Ca to over 300 stores in 7 states. There is a lot you can learn also about how to work well under pressure and time management.
