What I liked

Robust internship program with interns from many departments. A lot of professional development. Real hands on product management experience.

What I wish was different

Knowing they don’t have a budget to hire full time early on

Advice

Be a self starter. Identify your stakeholders early on. Plan dates starting from the deadline and then go back to create your timeline

Media Intern

May 2023 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

I really loved how programmed the internship was for all of. It had a schedule and curriculum to bring us away from our work to network and work on professional development. We also had charity events and even some fun mix and mingles. All of these events added variety to our weeks and made our time here so special.

What I wish was different

My only struggle was the continuous talk about "if you stay" or offers. I wish this wasn't as large of a focus, because it added a lot more pressure during the internship. At the end of the day, offers were entirely based on budget and head count, so I wish that was clarified at the beginning, so we didn't feel so much pressure.

Advice

DO IT! It was an invaluable experience I got that contributed to my personal and professional growth. Everyone in this company wants the interns to succeed, and they provide more than enough support. From day 1, you have the ability to make a large impact in the company, and you are treated as a professional with trust to make decisions.

Data Analytics Intern

June - August 2022 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

I enjoyed the challenges and work experience gained, as well as skills relating to data analytics that I would/have not received during my education in college. I also enjoyed that we were given the opportunity to work on real projects/deliverables that were beneficial to the company after our internship was completed. The office layout is nice, you get to interact with a diverse group of intelligent co-workers in a variety of departments.

What I wish was different

More communication with/from leaders.

Advice

Don't feel overwhelmed, embrace your intern group, network and make connections. Additionally, ask questions, this is your time to learn!

IT Security Intern

May 2018 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

The internship program was very structured. The company cares about their interns and will offer full-time and part-time positions to those that perform well. There is usually work for you to do if you make it clear that you want to work.

What I wish was different

Wish I would've learned more long term practical skills. I gained knowledge about IT Security and how to hack, but that is more general knowledge and not real world skills. However, if I wanted to build a career in the security field, then I would be in the right place and not have complaints about this.

Advice

I got to learn about the business of DriveTime from start to finish. Ask other interns what they are working on and learn as much as you can. Ask questions!
