Digital Publishing Student Assistant 

Are you looking for hands-on experience in digital publishing? 

The University Libraries are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student assistant to join the Research and Data Services team at Alkek Library. No matter your major or academic background, if you’re interested in learning about digital publishing, we encourage you to apply!  In this role, you’ll gain valuable experience working with digital publishing platforms and processes including: 

• DOI/ISSN assignment procedures 
• Accessibility standards in publishing 
• Open Journal Systems (OJS) publishing platform 
• Open Access policies for publishers 
• Creative Commons licensing 
• Institutional Repository (DSpace) 

This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with the Research and Data Services team while also assisting at the front desk, where you will greet visitors and manage the scheduling of the conference room to ensure efficient use of space. 

Qualifications: 

• Interest in publishing, scholarly communications, journalism, or related topics. 
• Motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and as part of a team. 
• Excellent communication and organizational skills. 
• Strong customer service skills. 
• Proactive and eager to learn about digital publishing platforms and trends.
