Student Office Assistant
JOB SUMMARY: As a Student Office Assistant, you will support daily office operations while gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment. Your responsibilities will include performing administrative tasks, assisting faculty/staff, and providing customer service. JOB DUTIES:
- Provide administrative support to faculty, staff, and students.
- Make copies of exams, course work, and other documents as needed.
- Run errands around campus to assist with various tasks.
- Shred large quantities of documents.
- Offer excellent customer service to all callers and route calls to the appropriate person or office.
- Distribute incoming mail within the office.
- Maintain and track office supplies, ensuring inventory is up to date.
- Accurately track and submit your work hours for approval through SAP in a timely manner.
- Empty the office recycling bin and request pick-up when it is full.
- Schedule package pick-ups with FedEx as required.
- Assist with building support tasks, such as moving equipment and furniture.
- Understand and explain basic student registration issues and direct inquiries to the appropriate resources.
- Complete miscellaneous projects as assigned by staff or faculty.
ON-CAMPUS JOB LOACTION:
This position will require you to work in the main office, located in Room 238 of the Chemistry Building.

WORK SCHEDULE:
We offer a flexible work schedule designed to fit around your course commitments, allowing you to work shorter shifts between classes. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no weekend shifts required. The number of hours you'll work each week will depend on your availability, but will not exceed 25 hours.
Additionally, applicant's must be able to work Monday's, Wednesday's & Fridays from 8am - 12pm.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs on a semi-frequent basis.
- Comfort with walking around campus in various weather conditions (heat, cold, or rain).
- Strong self-management skills and the ability to assign tasks to yourself as needed.
- Ability to work effectively in both fast-paced and slow-paced environments.
- Excellent organizational skills are a must.
- Ability to write clear and professional emails.
- Punctual and reliable.
EMPLOYEE EVALUATION PROCESS:
Student Office Assistants will be evaluated at the end of the each long semester.
PAY RATE DETERMINATION: All student employees begin at the starting pay rate and may increase by $1.00 after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment with a positive evaluation from their supervisor.
This position is open to all students, with preference given to those approved for work-study. However, students majoring in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other fields that require extensive coursework in these areas are not eligible, due to the nature of the work which involves handling course exams and assisting faculty with copying materials.
