Watershed Services Student Research Assistant - Work Study

The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment is seeking a work study-eligible student worker to assist the Watershed Services Research Scientist with a variety of tasks related to water conservation research. 

Watershed Services is a multi-disciplinary team working on water-related projects that provides great experience in the environmental sciences. 

Responsibilities

Assist the Research Scientist with various studies from research design to publication, including stakeholder identification and recruitment, survey distribution, content analysis (literature reviews), data analysis, technical writing, as well as skills with the following:

• Using Outlook, Word, Excel, and Office 365
• Create and update spreadsheets
• Craft literature review, survey, and reports
• Assist with data entry, data analysis (statistics)
• Research as requested
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

This is a work study position. The below qualifications are needed to be considered for this position:

• Applicants must have superior interpersonal skills including dependability, responsibility, motivation, time management, organization, excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow directions.
• Experience with research in the social sciences.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks is a must. 
• All required application documents must be submitted.

Preferred Qualifications

The below are preferred qualifications. Although not required, applicants with the below experience will receive higher consideration:

• Experience with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft SharePoint Office
• Skilled in technical writing, research, and synthesizing materials

Schedule

Applicants must be available during office business hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday – Friday. Occasional work on the weekends may be required.

Employee Evaluation Process

Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester.

Payrate Determination

All student employees begin at the starting pay rate and may increase by $1.00 after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment with a positive evaluation form from their supervisor using the Student Employee Career Readiness Evaluation form.
