DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: The Texas State Math Department is hiring undergraduate students for Undergraduate Instructional Assistant (UIA) position(s). To qualify for an UIA position, applicants MUST HAVE successfully completed Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Calculus II and one additional upper-level math course.

JOB SUMMARY: A UIA is a part-time student worker position responsible for assisting instructors in providing a challenging and meaningful learning experiences for students enrolled in the course.
JOB DUTIES:
- Attend/Instruct an assigned MATH class lab.
- Grade student homework and quizzes accurately and consistently.
- Work closely with the course instructor.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
- Create syllabus (from forum template), facilitate coordinating lab (3 hours), write quizzes, hold office hours (3 hours per week), grading, planning, and tutoring.

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Math Department
WORK SCHEDULE: Students who apply for this position are expected to be able to work no more than 10-12 hours/week.
EMPLOYEE EVALUATION PROCESS: Student employees will be evaluated by their supervisor at the end of Fall and Spring semesters.
PAYRATE DETERMINATION: All student employees begin at the starting pay rate and are employed for the semester only.
