Description: 

The Marketing Program Student Lead helps manage the day-to-day functions of the marketing program area. Responsibilities include staff scheduling, developing and leading student staff development workshops, various administrative functions, programming, and marketing duties as listed below. Program leads will receive additional development and mentoring from professional staff as they serve in a cohort with other cross-departmental leads to help consult and advise on department priorities and operations.

This position focuses on learning and professional development, offering the opportunity to assist with the daily marketing efforts for the department. 

Job Duties: 

  • Marketing Tasks
    • Oversee department promotional efforts to include on-campus postings, tabling events, digital content creation, blog/news writing, content calendars, website edits and maintenance, and videography.
    • Create new marketing strategies for targeted groups to increase diversity in student participation and social integration.
    • Coordinate satellite promotional efforts with our promotion team.
    • Maintain University branding standards in print, web, and other media.
  • Personnel Management
    • Assist in training and supervising marketing student workers in various positions including promotional assistants, content creators, graphic designers, and website manager.
  • Statistics & Evaluation
    • Evaluate marketing student staff each semester via verbal and written evaluations. Track student wages, hours worked, project deadline using our project management platform
    • Assist with strategic plan development through surveys using Qualtrics
  • Fiscal Management
    • Maintain vendor contacts and seek out competitive pricing for giveaway items.
  • Train student staff in design layout computer programs, content management, social media, and large-scale printing.
  • Manage student worker schedules and assist in their daily tasks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graphic design skills and/or proficient in Adobe design software.
  • Working on a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mass communication, digital media, marketing, or related field.
  • Experience working with brand social media accounts.
  • Word processing, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with videography and photography editing.

Terms of Employment: 

  • 10-15 hours per week
  • Pay: $12.50/hour
  • Supervisor for this position: Jessica Weiss
  • On-campus work at the Student Recreation Center. Tasks may take place at the Rec, Sewell Park, and other locations on campus as needed.
  • Begins Fall 2024 and ends Spring 2025
  • Student employee evaluations will occur at the end of every semester

Evaluation: 

  • All Campus Recreation student staff undergo routine evaluations with supervisors as a student development opportunity. Opportunities will also exist to evaluate upwards.

 

Other: 

  • In accordance with the Student Affairs Division/Campus Recreation Office Strategic Plan, other duties as assigned.

 

Prior experience is required for this position.
