Job Description
The Outdoor Center Attendant is responsible for customer service and rental operations of the Outdoor Center and Sewell Park under the supervision and guidance of the Outdoor Recreation Assistant Director and Coordinator. This includes managing and caring for rental equipment before and after each rental, along with the oversight and monitoring of Sewell Park. Safety is the #1 priority. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Outdoor Recreation, and the Coordinator of Outdoor Recreation.
Qualifications:
- (Required) Weekend availability and personal transportation
- (Required) Ability to work Summer 2025
- Active Texas State student, registered for a minimum of six (6) credit hours and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA (not required to be enrolled in summer semester classes)
- Current CPR and First-Aid Certifications (or obtain within 30 days of hire)
- (Preferred) Availability to work weekdays 12PM - 6PM
Employee Evaluation Process:
- Employee performance is determined once per semester. Performance evaluations explore the following:
- Communication
- Meeting Deadlines
- Meeting Attendance
- % of shifts assigned, worked
- 2 positive evaluations make an employee eligible for a $0.25 pay raise.
Wages/Scheduling:
Hourly Wage: $9.00-$10.50 per hour, depending on evaluations and acquired certifications
Scheduling & Hours per week:
- Fall/Spring: 6-15 hours per week, on average. Up to 25 hours per week permitted.
- Summer: If not in class, up to 35 hours per week permitted.
Payrate Determination:
- This position starts at $10.00 / hour.
- Payrate increases are determined by:
- Performance Evaluations / Longevity: 2 positive performance evaluations and 2 semesters worked makes an employee eligible for a $0.25 / hour pay increase.

- Training & Shifts: Starting immediately after spring break
