Student Transportation Operations and Office Assistant
Job Summary:
Assist with special events, help with office tasks, support routine duties, and assist with complex projects. Hours for this role will fluctuate depending on workload and scheduling requirements.
Job Duties:
- Drive vehicles carrying guests during special events
- Assist with bus operations during commencement and football games, including place signs and traffic control devices.
- Assist Transit Manager with daily transit operations, including placing temporary signs at bus stops, hanging maps in kiosks, placing cones or barriers, etc.
- Data Entry
- Phone-based customer service
- Perform general office tasks, such as shredding, meeting setup, filing documents, organizing supplies, responding to emails, data entry, and maintaining office records.
- Provide office coverage during staff meetings, events, and staff lunch times.
Requirements:
- Have a driver's license in good standing and be comfortable driving a variety of vehicles, including golf carts, pickup trucks, sedans, minivans, and larger vehicles like a Ford Transit (Van and golf cart training will be provided).
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours to assist with special events
- Read and understand maps and schedules.
- Be organized.
- Excellent customer service, including on the phone, and in person.
- Always be on time.
- Understand and learn office norms and culture.
Direct Supervisor: Administrative Assistant III, Transportation Services
Employee Evaluation Process: Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester.
Payrate Determination: All student employees begin at the starting pay rate and may increase by .25 after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment with positive evaluations from their supervisor.
