Project Management Intern

Assists and supports duties and responsibilities performed by Enterprise Program Management Office staff under the supervision of the EPO Director and EPMO Manager with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Work involves supporting project planning and implementation activities, capturing meeting minutes, communicating with internal project stakeholders, and updating project information as needed. As an EPMO project management intern, you will perform tasks that can help you develop practical skills and gain insights into project management.
Internship responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support Project Managers: Assists EPMO project managers with various administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, or coordinating logistics for project-related events.
- Documentation and Organization: Supports senior project managers with creating and organizing project documentation, such as project plans, schedules, cost estimates, budgets and meeting minutes.
- Project Scope Management: Assists senior projects managers defining project scope by gathering project requirements from stakeholders, documenting in/out of scope declarations, and ensuring that project deliverables align with the agreed-upon scope.
- Resource Allocation: Supports project managers in resource allocation efforts by assisting with resource planning, tracking resource availability, and coordinating resource assignments based on project needs.
- Task Tracking and Progress Monitoring: Helps track project tasks and milestones using EPMO project management software and/or spreadsheets. Monitor task progress, follow up with project team members, and update the task status accordingly.
- Change Control: Assist in managing project change requests. Help document change requests, assess their impact, and coordinate the review and approval process with the EPMO Manager
- Meeting Support: Participates in project meetings, prepares agenda, takes notes, creates status reports, and distributes meeting minutes. Follows up on action items, ensures decisions and next steps are documented, and tracks their progress as directed by senior project managers.
- Risk and Issue Management: Assists EPMO staff in identifying and documenting project risks and issues. Helps maintain a risk and issue log, track mitigation actions, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management: Contributes to communication efforts by preparing status reports or other project updates according to communication plan. Ensures that project team membership lists and documentation access is current. Ensures timely communication with project team members and stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance: Assists in project quality assurance activities, such as reviewing project deliverables for adherence to standards and requirements. Identifies areas for improvement and suggest corrective actions.
Lessons Learned: Participates in lessons learned sessions at the end of projects. Helps capture insights, documents key learnings, and contributes to the development of best practices or process improvements.
- Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
- Complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety and standards of conduct.
- Performs other duties as assigned by EPO Director, EPMO Manager and staff.
Qualifications:
- Active student at an institution of higher learning
- Updated resume
- Copy of current transcripts
- Minimum GPA of 2.5

Other Information: ERS operates in a hybrid work environment meaning shifts will predominately be onsite at ERS building, but may include a few days working a hybrid schedule. This position may require access to privileged, confidential, or sensitive data. ERS will conduct either a TXDPS or FBI criminal history check on all selected intern candidates.
