Summer 2025 - Business Analytics Internship

About the program:

The Toyota Business Analytics Internship is a 3-month* program for college students with a graduation date of May 2026 or later. 

 

* Opportunity to extend to 6-months exists if both parties are aligned

The primary responsibility of this role is contributing to a more inspiring, innovative, and exciting Toyota by developing and leveraging analytics to make it more efficient and effective. Also having the ability to understand business data and processes to enhance and improve the data to create innovative and engaging visualizations that are highly usable, scalable, extensible, and maintainable.  Reporting to the Sales Analytics Manager, the person in this role will support the Business Analytics objectives to help lead the design, development, and delivery of business analytics solutions across the Toyota and Lexus Divisions, with the business goals of improving sales volume, market share, profitability, and the return on incentive and marketing spend. Candidates with both technical skills and business acumen will be considered first.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design, develop, and deploy analytics platforms and tools by leveraging business and industry knowledge to lead the ideation and innovation efforts that are critical to creating value-add tools. Leverage internal and external resources in your ideation efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to build and leverage relationships that are critical to the success of new analytics tools.
  • Work with a cross-functional team in the design and development of analytics dashboards. Utilize and build new, easy-to-understand tools to allow for simple visualization of complex data to allow end user to quickly identify and interpret patterns in the data.
  • Leverage project management skills to bring a standardized approach to both our development lifecycle AND our monthly reporting cycle. Standardize the process to help reduce errors and shorten delivery timelines.
  • Work with multiple development specialists in the design and technical development of the analytics platform.
  • Assist in the migration and restructuring of data in a centralized repository and contribute to the ongoing development of the business analytics platform and tools’ backend.
  • Develop pilot testing and program analytics to better understand the supply and demand determinants that can influence vehicle demand and pricing.
  • Develop reliable predictive analytics and forecasts that will allow business teams to identify concerns and take proactive measures.
  • Assess the current effectiveness of existing reporting assets through ongoing analysis, and work with the teams to develop a kaizen roadmap to continue the evolution and improvement of these tools.
  • Conduct a wide range of analyses to identify trends, issues, and opportunities through exploratory analysis and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Develop and deliver presentations outlining findings and recommendations. 

 

Qualification Section

 

Internship Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time, accredited Bachelor’s degree program or accredited MBA or Master’s degree program studying Business Analytics, Information Science, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Marketing, Consumer Insights or closely related field 
  • College students with a graduation date of May 2026 or later 
  • Available to work full-time during the Summer
  • GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Lawful unlimited authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship 

 

What you bring:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Analytics, Information Science, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Marketing, Consumer Insights or closely related field.
  • Development experience (1-2 years) creating user-facing tools and dashboards using data visualization analytics platforms like Tableau, Power BI, and Looker. 
  • 1-2 years proficiency and development experience programming with SQL and/or using Alteryx 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to discover and present a business story using tools like Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and promotes understanding and consensus building
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and business partnering abilities (all levels of the organization)

 

Added Bonus If You Have

  • Experience in the automotive industry and with industry data sources
  • Experience with sales and marketing data (both offline and online)
