Philosophy Department Office Assistant - work study
This posting is for work study students only. This position is for in person and on campus work.
Job Requirements:
- Maintain confidentiality and handle themselves in a professional manner at all times.
- Be responsible and dependable (i.e., report to work as scheduled);
- Demonstrate a pleasant and willing attitude;
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills;
- Possess or be willing to learn basic computer skills, i.e., word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and, possibly, creating/updating databases.
- Create a welcoming and comfortable office environment.
Job duties and responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Delivering/picking up and distributing mail;
- Making deliveries and pickups in other departments;
- Completing routine office duties such as photocopying, filing, computer work/typing, mailing information to potential prospective students, and answering the telephone;
- Assisting with special projects emanating from the Chair and/or faculty members
- Assisting with special events such as the Philosophy Dialogue Series and Symposiums.
- Running errands (on campus only) and other duties as may be required by faculty or staff.
- Creating and maintaining a welcoming office environment for employees and visitors.
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing tasks and communicating progress with peers and supervisors.
Direct Supervisor: Kellea Clark - Administrative Assistant III - Department of Philosophy
Payrate Determination - Starting pay is $13/hr with opportunity for growth with time and experience within the department.
Employee Evaluation Process: Employees will be evaluated semesterly in a one-on-one meeting with the direct supervisor, Kellea Clark, based on expectations set at onset of employment.
