Job Summary
In this student assistant position, you will process digital images of documents, photographs, negatives, maps, and other materials for Texas State University Libraries and external partners. The Digitization Specialist is the direct supervisor to this position.
We are seeking student workers who are comfortable with technology and interested in the digitization process. If you have education, work experience, or hobbies that involve photography, digital imaging and scanning, graphic design, art, or related disciplines, this job may be a good fit for you.
This position may require long periods of standing and leaning while operating capture equipment. The tasks performed in the digitization lab can be extremely repetitive and candidates should be prepared to execute such tasks while maintaining quality.
Job Duties:
- Handling physical items with care
- Process images with editing software, ex: ScanTailor Advanced, Adobe Photoshop
- Utilize file renaming software
- Set up, calibration, and operation of capture equipment
- Navigating capture software such as Capture One, Book Pavilion, and Scandall Pro
- Monitor and record project tracking data
- Daily management and submission of productivity data and timesheet
- Adhering to established imaging standards and project documentation
- Participate in maintenance and cleaning of the Digitization Lab
- Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule
Applicants must be enrolled in the Texas State University system. This position may work Monday – Friday 9a-5pm for a minimum of 14 hours per week and a maximum of 25 hours per week. You may design your schedule within those parameters and your class schedule.

- Experience with Windows computer systems
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Adobe Bridge, and Adobe Photoshop is a plus
Employee evaluation process
Student employees will perform a self-evaluation at the end of each semester followed by an evaluation by their supervisor.
Payrate Determination
All technicians begin at the starting pay. Technicians will have an annual opportunity to earn a raise dependent on an evaluation of the technician's performance over the last year. Areas of consideration will include fulfillment of scheduled hours, productivity, error rate, quantity of deliverables, and attitude.
