Math CATS Tutor - Spring 2025
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Math CATS (Computer & Tutoring Service), sponsored by the Department of Mathematics, provides free drop-in math tutoring in a personalized atmosphere. Our tutoring services range from basic mathematics to advanced courses for math majors.
Our goal is to provide students with academic support in a comfortable learning environment.

JOB SUMMARY: A Math CATS tutor is a part-time student worker position responsible for tutoring peers in math courses, leading small group or 1:1 tutoring sessions and maintaining lab equipment.
JOB DUTIES:
- Attend tutor trainings/meetings in person and/or online
- Conduct small group or one on one tutoring in person and/or online
- Help students develop positive study habits and study skills
- Advise students regarding resources and support services that are available
- Exhibit respect and a helpful attitude toward everyone
- Remain attentive and actively participate in online tutoring sessions and trainings

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Illona Weber
WORK SCHEDULE: Students who apply for this position are expected to be able to work between 8 - 15 hours/week.
EMPLOYEE EVALUATION PROCESS: Student employees will be evaluated by their supervisor at the end of Fall and Spring semesters.
PAYRATE DETERMINATION: All student employees begin at the starting pay rate and may increase by .25 after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment with a positive evaluation from their supervisor and availability of funds.
