Building Manager
General Description:
The Student Building Manager plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment within the Texas State LBJ Student Center, JCK, and other reservable spaces (under Event Services purview). This position is pivotal in enforcing university policies and procedures. The Student Building Manager conducts thorough building walks and meets with clients, working closely with both the Set-up Crew and the AV Technicians. Responsibilities include overseeing the completion of client requests, performing final checks of event spaces prior to client arrival, unlocking and locking meeting spaces, and ensuring accurate recording of building reports, and providing a concierge like service to clients and guests. Responsible for the securing and lock down of the LBJ Student Center each night and opening of the building on weekends and some mornings.
Purpose:
To ensure a secure and inviting atmospheres for all clients and guests, while imparting knowledge of and upholding university policies and procedures. This role guarantees that event spaces are prepared in accordance with client approved requests, delivering prompt and hospitable customer service and support throughout their event.
Job Duties:
- Serve as a friendly and helpful point of contact at the Texas State information desk within LBJ Student Center.
- Provide prompt responses to radio and phone communications, offering solutions in line with policies or directing issues to the appropriate parties
- Conduct routine checks of both indoor and outdoor reserved spaces, interacting with clients and guests to foster a positive experience and adherence to policies
- Opening and closing of meeting rooms as represented on Mazevo or requested by Event Services staff
- Before the events begin, this role is tasked with conducting a final review of the venue and verifying that all client specifications have been met to ensure seamless execution of meetings and events
- Accurately compile and relay daily operational reports, disseminating essential information as necessary
- Responsible for the securing and lock down of the LBJ Student Center each night and opening of the building on weekends and some mornings
- Assisting in the setup of events in reservable spaces throughout the Texas State campus
- Assisting in the setup, adjusting, and troubleshooting of audio/visual (A/V) equipment for various functions
- Contribute to the upkeep of furnishings, and the general presentation of the LBJ Student Center
- Manage building keys, a cell phone, and a 2-way radio, ensuring all communications are received and addressed
- Participate in all scheduled meetings and any additional meetings, conferences, training workshops, or related activities
- Undertake additional responsibilities as needed
Basic Requirements:
- Must be currently enrolled at Texas State University and maintain a 2.25 GPA.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills, ability to relay accurate and pertinent information to the proper parties as needed.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills, with the ability to exceed client and guest expectations, adeptly addressing their needs and resolving issues, all while adhering to established policies.
- Must demonstrate good leadership skills with the ability to work independently.
- Must be able to lift 45lb.
Other Requirements
- Must work evenings and weekends.
Must be willing to work early mornings (6:00 am) and/or late nights (up to 1:00 am)

- Must be registered for Fall 2024 classes
DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Scott O'Neal
STARTING PAY RATE
Starting: $10 an hour.
PAY RATE DETERMINATION
All student employees begin at the starting pay rate for their job title and may increase by .50 after each long semester of employment with a “meets” or “exceeds” expectations overall evaluation from their supervisor using the LBJSC Student Employee Performance Review form.
EMPLOYEE EVALUATION PROCESS
Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester (fall/spring). They are also evaluated at the end of summer if they were employed in both Summer I and II sessions.
