Data Science and Data Engineering Intern
About the Role
CrowdStrike’s CTO Labs team works at the exciting intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Big Data, and Security. We are looking for Data Science and Data Engineering Interns to work within our diverse and multidisciplinary Data Science team, and you’ll have the chance to broaden your horizons by working jointly with a team of Engineering, Big Data, Machine Learning, and Security domain experts on hard and impactful problems. You will gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
This Internship is fully remote and requires no travel. Your work location is the city/town/province you will be working from remotely. For our 12-week internship program, interns are allowed to work remotely from an alternative location for up to 2 weeks. Interns are also invited to work out of the CrowdStrike office located closest to their remote location.
What You'll Do:
As a Data Engineer intern you will:
- Learn about containerization, microservices, and distributed architecture and understand, provision and maintain new and existing infrastructure.
- Participate in engineering efforts to support R&D and machine learning initiatives and work with cutting edge technologies and languages across the entire development stack.
- Our Data Engineering team is looking for candidates experienced with any high level language such as: Python, Go, JVM Technology and familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Cassandra, and Spark
As a Data Science intern you will:
- Have the opportunity to apply your computational, coding, mathematical and scientific research skills to solve cutting problems and work directly with Sr. Data Scientists, helping to create and automate predictive machine learning models.
- Hone your ability to balance detail-oriented research with goal-oriented business objectives, implement and experiment with new algorithms and methodologies to help improve our machine learning models and automate and visualize analyses, results and processes in our machine learning pipeline.
- Our Data Science team is looking for candidates experienced in writing python code to pre-process and analyze data to generate actionable insights and is analytically minded with completed coursework in linear algebra and data science or an equivalent knowledge of applied mathematics.
What You’ll Need:
- A rising junior, senior, or graduate-level Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning student, graduating between December 2025 to August 2026
- Experience with Language Models, Data Science, and Data Engineering
- Hands on in your approach to understanding data and learning about new fields
- Thirsty for knowledge and do not hesitate to step outside of your comfort zone to learn new technologies, algorithms and concepts
- Comfortable with either Linux, Windows or Mac
- Knowledge of appropriate algorithms to solve complex technical problems
Bonus Points
- Coursework in data science, linear algebra, or distributed systems
- Familiar with software vulnerabilities and secure programming
- Familiar with cloud computing platform(s) AWS/GCP/Azure
- Experience with AWS, Kafka, Chef, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins
- Data storage and caching technologies: RDBMS, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Redis, Memcached
- Computer and/or network security experience/understanding
- Contributions to the open source community (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging)
