Work Study Data Entry and Research Assistant
The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment is seeking a work study-eligible student worker to assist the Watershed Services GIS & Data Management Specialist with a variety of tasks. Watershed Services is a multi-disciplinary team working on water-related projects that provide great experience in the environmental sciences. Projects include Texas Stream Team and Cypress Creek Project.
Responsibilities
Assist the GIS & Data Management Specialist with preparing data for GIS projects, processing partner requests, and entering/quality controlling water quality data, as well as skills with the following:
- Using Outlook, Word, Excel, Office 365
- Create and update spreadsheets, data entry
- Compiling information/research as requested
- Compose email responses
- Researching to trouble shoot issues and find solutions
- Ability to train others
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
This is a work study position. The below qualifications are needed to be considered for this position:
- Applicants must have superior interpersonal skills including dependability, responsibility, motivation, time management, organization, excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow directions.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
- All required application documents must be submitted.
Preferred Qualifications
The below are preferred qualifications. Although not required, applicants with the below experience will receive higher consideration:
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft SharePoint Office
- Skilled in ESRI Software (ArcPro, ArcOnline, Survey123, StoryMaps)

Schedule
Applicants must be available during office business hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday – Friday. Occasional work on the weekends may be required.
Employee Evaluation Process
Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester.
Payrate Determination
All student employees begin at the starting pay rate and may increase by $1.00 after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment with a positive evaluation form from their supervisor using the Student Employee Career Readiness Evaluation form.
