Department Description: Transfer Center, Academic Advising

Job Summary:

We are seeking dedicated Transfer Ambassadors who will serve as valuable resources for prospective and current transfer students at TXST. As a Transfer Ambassador, your main objective will be to connect with transfer students, offering guidance and support as they integrate into the TXST community and engage in the various services and programs available at the university.

Job Duties:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • assisting with Transfer Center programming, such as leading presentations, connecting with first-year transfer students, and representing the Transfer Center in both on-campus and virtual initiatives designed to engage prospective and entering transfer students;
  • collaborating with other campus offices who work with transfer students by assisting with or helping to promote programming beneficial to transfer students, which may include activities like tabling, assisting with event setup/takedown, etc.;
  • actively reaching out to incoming transfer students to help connect them with campus resources;
  • answer emails and phone calls with general transfer inquiries and help prospective students make transfer navigation appointments;
  • and assist with data collection/reporting as needed for work completed.

In your role as a Transfer Ambassador, you will lead by example, actively promoting academic success. We strongly encourage Transfer Ambassadors who are involved in on-campus research, student organizations, or other aspects of campus life to share their experiences with incoming students and help them connect with these opportunities.

On Campus Job Location: First floor of Trauth-Huffman Hall

Work Schedule: Flexible, determined by work study award and student availability. 

Qualifications: Must be eligible for Work Study Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. Must have enrolled at TXST for at least two semesters and currently hold a minimum 2.75 TXST GPA. 

Employee Evaluation Process: At the midpoint and endpoint of the semester, students will have the opportunity to engage in a self-evaluation process followed by supervisor evaluation and discussion. 

Payrate Determination: Standard pay rate. Number of hours available to work will be based on department need and the total work study award to be distributed.
