Meadows Center-Social Media Intern
The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment is currently seeking a graduate- or undergraduate intern. S/he will work closely with the communications team to develop and implement engaging social media strategies that help tell our story.
The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment at Texas State University is dedicated to inspiring research, leadership and innovation that ensures clean, abundant water for the environment and all humanity. The Meadows Center fulfills its mission by integrating activities across four pillars of action in powerful ways. Our work in each of these pillars begins at Spring Lake – one of the largest artesian springs in the world – and ripples outward across Texas and beyond.
Qualifications
Applicants must have work-study. A good applicant will have superior interpersonal skills including dependability, responsibility, motivation, time management, organization, excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow directions. Experience and comfort-ability with basic software programs and social media platforms is required.
General Description
The Meadows Center’s communication team is looking for a versatile, motivated individual with strong all-around communication skills, a great creative eye and an enthusiasm to learn. As the social media intern, you will play an important role in sharing our story and the story of water in Texas.
Schedule
Applicants must be available during the times of 8:00am -5:00pm Mon – Fri and work 10-15 hours a week. Work hours can be flexible. Some weekends may be required.
Job Requirements
- Must be able to work 10-15 hours during the normal work week
- Must have experience with social media (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram)
- Must be an energetic self-starter who can also take direction.
- You must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- You must have an interest in spending time outside in nature, the water, etc.
- Bonus Points for: experience in Adobe Suite and Photography.
- Texas State Parking Pass is required if you plan to drive to work.
- Must have a reliable method of getting to work.
Job Duties
- Maintain and monitor daily activity on social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
- Develop and execute all social media initiatives and strategies.
- Monitor online brand presence.
- Promote all Meadows Center events through online public postings.
- Actively participate in the Spring Lake Education Marketing Team.
- Meaningfully contribute to completion of projects through independent work.
Location
Please note our location: http://www.meadowscenter.txstate.edu/About/Contact-Us.html. Students driving their vehicle to work must have a Texas State parking permit. Students without a vehicle must have a reliable method of getting to work.
Employee Evaluation Process
Employees will be evaluated on their work output and ethic. Employees will be required to attend all scheduled shifts unless prior communication has been made with their direct supervisor. All employees are required to follow university policy and procedures.
Pay Rate Determination
The pay rate of this position begins at $12. Experience may result in a higher rate if deemed appropriate by the hiring team.
Direct Supervisor
This position is directly supervised by the Meadows Center's Communication Manager.
