Student Worker-Counseling Center- Work Study
Job summary: The Student Worker-Counseling Center position, is a part time work-study funded position. The purpose is to assist the Counseling Center’s educational programming and outreach’s prevention efforts on campus as well as perform general office tasks. This role is ideal for students interested in marketing, event planning, and interacting with the campus community.
Job duties, responsibilities, and purpose of role:
- Assist with marketing efforts for departmental events (graphic design, social media, print media).
- Maintain and inventory outreach supplies.
- Setup and take down of departmental events.
- Interact with campus community at tabling events.
- Work with graduate assistants, administrative staff and counselors on specific projects.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype and other software).
- Use of office equipment (i.e... fax, copier, laminator, shredder and calculators).
- Provide administrative assistance such as file paperwork, input data, working spreadsheets and databases.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be eligible for and maintain a work-study award funding.
- Must be able to work at least 2 hour shifts or longer.
- Knowledge of SAP (time entry)
- Follow directions on projects with minimum supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Time management skills
- Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.
- Incoming Freshman must have a 2.5 GPA at the end of the semester.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Canva design tools
- Experience with event planning
- Experience with tabling events
- Experience working within an office setting
Location where the student will perform their duties: Counseling Center, LBJ Student Center room 5-4.1, San Marcos campus
Work Schedule: Part time, approximately 10-15 hours per week, depending on work study award amount, between the hours of Monday (12pm-3pm) Tuesday (8am-3pm) Wednesday (8am-5pm) and Thursday (8am-3pm). (please include all available hours in optional information)
Payrate Determination: All student employees begin at the starting pay rate and may increase at least $0.50 after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment with a positive evaluation from their supervisor using the departmental evaluation form.
Schedule for providing employee evaluations: Annually, via self-assessment and assessment by supervisor.
