Environmental Intern

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Environmental Specialist or Environmental Director, assist with site monitoring, recordkeeping, and compliance activities for Capitol Aggregates Facilities.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities (Essential Functions)

  • Field survey work includes setting and capturing data to and from the field.
  • Assists with capturing, documenting, and data entry of organizational data.
  • Assists with creation and documentation of previous environmental documentation, maps, and drawings.
  • Responsible for project work related to analysis and improvement of Company sites as related to environmental compliance or plant processes to reduce pollutants.
  • Assists with field work for Company site as needed.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a safe and clean condition at all times.
  • Responsible for abiding by and support all company and plant safety policies, rules, and procedures as well as M.S.H.A. regulations.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient use of computer and software programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Education & Experience

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program in environmental, engineering or other related science major.

Other Qualifications

  • Recipient of smoke school certificate is helpful but not required.
  • Prior experience with data or spreadsheets is preferred but not required.
  • Must possess excellent organization, planning and time management skills.
  • Must communicate effectively using appropriate interpersonal skills.
