Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

The Role

As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will be an essential member Maintenance, Technology, or Reliability Team providing day-to-day technical service, completing small design projects for repair and/or replacement of mechanical equipment and serve on teams to address mechanical equipment reliability, safety, and design initiatives.

  • Daily interaction with operations, maintenance, technology, reliability, and construction teams to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Collaboration with various groups including Operations, maintenance, technology, purchasing, and HSE teams to maintain equipment compliance and integrity.
  • Project involvement in scoping, prioritization, and mechanical design, utilizing codes and specifications, CAD, PSM, MOC, and CVP.
  • Participation in safety studies and driving MOC process for small capital projects.
  • Issuing mechanical packages for equipment repair and providing estimates and designs for small capital jobs.
  • Leading implementation of small projects and participating in larger capital and new technology groups.
  • Supporting engineer role during turnarounds.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 3.0 G.P.A. out of 4.0 is required.
  • Completion of a minimum of one year of engineering coursework.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong basic engineering skills with knowledge of process equipment including pumps, compressors, piping systems, pressure vessels, fired equipment, exchangers, and relief valves. 
  • Ability to be innovative and to apply technical skills to improve safety and quality, reduce costs, and increase production.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including being a team player and effective communicator at all levels.
  • Demonstrates good listening and influencing skills, with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • Capable of managing change and multiple priorities, delivering results through strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
