MARKETING INTERN

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

 

To act as the MARKETING INTERN for the Chamber of Commerce.  The Intern is responsible for various projects that will provide them with direct knowledge of marketing, event planning, advocacy and business operations of the fourth largest Chamber of Commerce in Central Texas.

 

The Intern will work closely with all staff and attend staff meetings, Chamber Events, Programs, Membership, as well as Board of Directors Meetings when possible. 

 

At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will have knowledge of non-profit marketing, event planning, sales and strategic partnerships along with information on associations.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

STAFF RESPONSIBILITY TO General Administration

  • Learn to work with a membership database (currently ChamberMaster).  This will include updating information, making phone calls to members and verifying correct information is in our database.
  • Compile information for various membership and non-membership lists. Type, edit and copy, as requested. 

 

STAFF RESPONSIBILITY TO Communications – Under Supervision 

  • Create graphics and content for a plethora of activities and programs that are to come.
  • Create collateral the Chamber Membership Manager can use to help gain new members.
  • Create collateral the Chamber CEO can use for advocacy efforts.
  • Help create, update and improve Chamber Website.
  • Help create, update and improve Chamber’s Social Media.
  • Create & send Constant Contact correspondence as needed including, but not limited to:
    • Friday Forecast
    • Member Paid E-Blasts
    • Chamber E-Blasts
    • VIP Events Reminder
  • Help coordinate monthly media articles (Hill Country News)
  • Add events to Chamber Calendar updated weekly.
  • Maintain in-office member display.

 

 

 

STAFF RESPONSIBILITY TO Assist Other Staff Members

  • Help execute all special projects/annual events as assigned.
  • Help with follow up communications for office.
  • Other duties as required with a smile and sense of humor.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES:

 

  • Understand and adhere to the policies set forth by the Employee Handbook
  • Practice exceptional customer service and teamwork at all times.
  • Work at all membership networking events.
  • To be alert to things that need to be done, and without being asked to take the initiative to get them done.  Sometimes these tasks or activities will not be listed as part of the position description.
