JOB DESCRIPTION: 

 

To act as the CHAMBER  INTERN for the Chamber of Commerce.  The Intern is responsible for various projects that will provide them with direct knowledge of marketing, event planning, advocacy and business operations of the fourth largest Chamber of Commerce in Central Texas. 

 

The Intern will work closely with all staff and attend staff meetings, Chamber Events, Programs, Membership, as well as Board of Directors Meetings when possible. 

 

At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will have knowledge of non-profit marketing, event planning, sales and strategic partnerships along with information on associations.

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:                                                 

 

Marketing & Communications

  • Coordinated with Vice President and Marketing Interns to advertise Chamber programs 
    • Included is the management of the Chamber’s Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube Channel. 

 

Membership Development 

  • Assist in developing new programs and services that specifically involve and benefit the membership
    • Included is participation in sales calls and member visits. 

 

Leadership Cedar Park Alumni

  • Update Leadership Cedar Park list with updated emails and phone numbers. 
    • Includes working Alumni Association Events.

 

Leadership Cedar Park and Leadership Tomorrow 

  • Assist in the recruitment of members and citizens for both programs. 

 

Elected Officials Reception 

  • Assist the CEO with the marketing efforts and event planning for the Elected Officials Reception.

 

Legislative Day at the Capitol

  • Assist the CEO with the marketing efforts and event planning for the Legislative Day at the Capitol.

 

Candidates Forum 

  • Assist the CEO with the marketing efforts and event planning for the Candidates Forum.

 

 

 

 

ADMINISTRATIVE AND OTHER DUTIES:                                                  

 

Administrative:

  • Telephones – Assist with phone calls to Chamber.
  • Administrative Support - Provide additional administrative support as needed in the office and be willing to assist other staff members on any and all projects as needed.
  • Other duties - as assigned with a smile and sense of humor.

 

Other General Areas: 

  • Understand and adhere to the policies set forth by the Employee Handbook
  • Practice exceptional customer service and teamwork at all times.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • To be alert to things that need to be done and without being asked takes the initiative to get them done.                                                                   
  • Facilitate the routine organization, order & cleanliness of the office
  • Serve as a team player on the Chamber of Commerce staff and assist with other Chamber projects as needed.

 

TECHNICAL:

  • Excellent public speaking, research and writing skills
  • Ability to establish cooperative and effective relationships with members and elected officials.
  • Proficient knowledge of computersystems, specifically in MS Office products.
  • Outstanding time management skills
  • Ability to communicate – verbal,non-verbal and listening skills with volunteers, members, peers, and coworkers.
