Help us help others:

The Mental Health Associate is responsible for providing constant supervision and ensuring the safety of children and adolescents receiving therapeutic crisis respite services in a home-based center environment at all times. Assures program schedule is consistently implemented including conduction scheduled therapeutic recreational activities. Consistently and accurately writes clinical and administrative documentation as directed. Implements patient treatment plan strategies as directed by clinical protocols and under the supervision of clinical staff. Continually communicates with co-workers, supervisors and other staff regarding patient care and safety. Safely and consistently manages difficult behaviors of the youth in care. Provides transportation if necessary. Monitors and documents medication administration assistance. The person in this position serves as a role model for all youth in regard to appearance, interaction, problem solving methodology, personal accountability, and demonstration of respect for others, self, and property. This is a new program that will continue to evolve; duties and responsibilities may change over time.

You will get to:

  • Assures program schedule is consistently implemented including conducting scheduled therapeutic recreational activities.
  • Identifies age-appropriate area community activities and outings and maintains community events calendar.
  • Provides transport to/from community outings or as need arises. Assures respite house environment is clean and orderly while ensuring the safety of clients.
  • Assists with inventory, ordering, restocking, and organization of household.
  • Creates individualized schedule and provides life skills that support and promote youth’s recovery.
  • Provides supervision and assistance with homework assignments when indicated.
  • Consistently and accurately writes clinical and administrative documentation as directed.
  • Implements patient treatment plan strategies as directed by clinical protocols and under the supervision of clinical staff.
  • Assists with program development and administrative tasks when indicated.
  • Adheres to regulatory requirements and follows all safety, medical, and administrative procedures, and protocols.
  • Conducts marketing activities and provides program liaison services to community agency representatives when indicated.
  • Provides clerical duties to include answering phones, supervising faxed documents, relaying messages received and making copies.
  • Continually communicates with co-workers, supervisors and other staff regarding patient care and safety.
  • Safely and consistently manages difficult behaviors of the youth in care. Monitors and documents medication administration assistance.
  • The person in this position serves as a role model for all youth in regard to appearance, interaction, problem solving methodology, personal accountability, and demonstration of respect for others, self, and property.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You’ll definitely need:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • A valid Texas State Driver’s License.
  • Current automobile insurance and the ability to travel when necessary.

  • Ability to write complex sentences.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and members of the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen skillfully and collect relevant information. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Comfortable working with technology and can easily navigate new technology platforms.
  • Efficiently move through a to-do list and effectively prioritize and triage competing demands.
  • Passion for connecting individuals and families with excellent care.
  • Sustain a calm demeanor when under pressure to manage sometimes difficult situations.
  • Provide exemplary customer service and care for your team.
  • Work autonomously to complete assignments. 
  • Work cooperatively with others and be punctual and consistent in attendance because your people will rely on you!
