Real Estate Research Analyst-Intern

Capitol Market Research (CMR) is seeking candidates for paid internship positions beginning in May 2024 for the summer semester. This internship also has the potential to be extended through Fall 2024. We strive be flexible with students by working schedules around classes and exams, and may also fulfill an internship requirement.

Capitol Market Research (CMR) is an Austin-based real estate research company founded in 1986 by Charles Heimsath to provide professional consulting and planning services related to real estate, urban redevelopment, and new residential and commercial construction. Charles brings 38 years of expertise and experience in economic analysis, market research and urban planning to each research assignment. CMR provides comprehensive, accurate and well-documented assessments of real estate data, demographic variables and urban development trends.

  • Our services encompass a multitude of real estate property types to include multi-family, condominium, single-family, office, retail, hotel and industrial.

The person filling this position will assist with the production of comprehensive feasibility and real estate market assessment reports by participating in multiple supporting tasks, such as economic research, model building, data collection and analysis, drafting of report text, and light administrative duties.

The applicant should be completing a Bachelor’s Degree in a field such as Economics, Political Science, Urban Studies, Finance, Real Estate, or Geography.

Experience/Skills preferred: 

  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to assist with multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable collaborating with and taking direction from other staff in a team environment
  • The ability to write descriptive and comprehensive professional text
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Suite knowledge, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Familiarized with real estate and economics throughout the state of Texas
  • Knowledge of Commercial Real Estate, database systems, and/or GIS
  • Capacity to ask appropriate and thoughtful questions and learn new skills
  • Strong communication skills, including phone interaction and appropriate email
  • Tenacity in problem solving and in depth research
