Trail Programs Intern

The City of Pflugerville is seeking its next Trail Programs Intern to join our team! The person we seek will believe in and exhibit the City's P.F.I.R.S.T. core values: Positive, Forward-thinking, Integrity, Resilience, Service, and Teamwork.

This intern would be in charge of surveying and mapping our large trail system. They would create maps and educational and informational recommendations to engage our citizens at the trails. This position would primarily oversee planning walks and biking opportunities for citizens.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for surveying and mapping trails and amenities for programming and planning purposes.
  • Plans and leads walking and biking trail programs for a diverse range of populations including youth, adult, senior, and adaptive.
  • Recommend educational and informational programming throughout the trail system.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain working relationships.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Frequent use of bicycle and frequent and prolonged bending, stooping, crouching, walking, pushing, pulling, standing.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

Formal Education: High School diploma, or equivalent and be currently enrolled in a college or university.
Relatable Work Experience: None required.
Training, Licenses, or Certifications: CPR, AED, and First Aid.
Preferred Qualifications: Interest in environmental science or recreation management degrees. Experience in Customer Service and Fitness Programming.
