Student Office Assistant (Work-Study)

Overview: First-Year Advising seeks dynamic, motivated, and enthusiastic Bobcats to join our team as a Student Office Assistant. The position is critical to support our mission of ensuring a smooth and high-quality office experience for first-year students. Join our team to play a pivotal role in the academic success of our first-year students, all while developing your professional and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Front Desk and Call Center Assistance: Greet visitors (students, families, and guests) warmly, assist with appointment scheduling, and address general inquiries with a welcoming and helpful demeanor.
  2. Administrative Support: Manage appointment calendars, maintain organized electronic and paper files, and assist with data entry.
  3. Event Assistance: Provide logistical support for workshops, orientation sessions, meetings, and other events, including but not limited to setup, registration, and breakdown.
  4. Team Collaboration: Attend regular team meetings, provide feedback on center processes, and collaborate with team members on special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Status: Must be a currently enrolled student.
  2. Academic Good Standing: Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  3. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication.
  4. Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Teams, and Outlook) and willingness to learn new software as needed.
  5. Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively, ensuring smooth operations and timely completion of tasks.
  6. Interpersonal Skills: A friendly and approachable demeanor, passionate about assisting peers and contributing to their first-year experience.
  7. Availability: Able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours during peak periods.
