The Center of High-Performance Systems (CHiPS) seeks students to develop quality assurance methods for an ongoing State of Texas contract project.

The position will start immediately and continue based on performance. Work hours are very flexible per your school schedule; however, a time commitment is required – the candidate shall demonstrate time management skills.

Main responsibilities include designing, performing, and documenting experiments for developing new or improving testing methodologies for consumer goods; analyzing experimental data; drawing conclusions; and reporting results.

Position not restricted to school session only. The selected candidates will be expected to work during the summer session.

Core job responsibilities:

• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to investigate and resolve issues affecting product quality
• Design testing methods
• Plan process of testing
• Write test cases
• Develop and maintain inspection reports
• Prepare and maintain test data for review
• Evaluate data and draft reports, noting any relevant deviations from existing standards
• Literature and documentation review including existing testing methodologies like ISO and ASTM standards
• Must enjoy hands on product exposure.

Required qualifications:

• Enrollment in an undergraduate degree program at Texas State University (Engineering/ Engineering Technology major)
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels within the project
• Proficient with CAD software, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience using Rapid Prototyping Makerspace (RPM) and Industrial Makerspace (IM) is a plus.
