Position Overview:

Join our dynamic First-Year Advising team this summer and play a pivotal role in welcoming new students to our vibrant Bobcat community! As a Summer Peer Advising Assistant, you will be at the heart of the New Bobcat Advising experience, providing crucial support to ensure a smooth and successful experience for first-year students before and during NSO. This temporary, part-time position from May to August offers a unique opportunity to develop your leadership, communication, and organizational skills while making a meaningful impact on the experience students, families, and guests have with First-Year Advising. 

Job Duties:

  • Participate in the New Bobcat Advising Check-In at NSO: Be the friendly face that welcomes new students and their families at the First-Year Advising table, guiding them through the academic check-in process with warmth and efficiency.
  • Prepare Advising and Enrollment Materials: Assemble all necessary materials for new students in advance of their advising and enrollment experience, ensuring they are informed and ready to embark on their academic journey.
  • Staff the Registration Lab: With robust training and support provided by First-Year Advising, serve as a knowledgeable guide in the registration lab, assisting students with enrolling in their first-semester schedule by providing hands-on support and answers to their questions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled as a student for the fall 2024 semester.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in student services or event support.
  • Familiarity with the university's registration systems and academic policies.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
