GIS Analyst

GIS Analyst

 

FUNCTION:  Create, edit and manage all CAD files, GIS data and various technical drawings

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Utilize CAD, GIS, database, spreadsheet and other related software and hardware to develop and maintain associated drawings and maps
  2. Create, edit, update, maintain and distribute CAD drawings (one-line diagrams, distribution and substation prints, electrical prints, mechanical prints, standards drawings, etc.)
  3. Create, edit, update, maintain and distribute GIS information (maps)
  4. Create, edit, update, maintain, organize and distribute utility databases
  5. Digitize and provide hard copies and print outs of large scale drawings 
  6. Configure and organize CAD, GIS, database and spreadsheet data for use on shared corporate network
  7. Install, configure, update and troubleshoot CAD and GIS software
  8. Evaluate and recommend related software and hardware solutions
  9. Provide assistance and technical support to CAD and GIS end-users
  10. Data collection field work and associated GPS duties
  11. Collaborate with GEUS staff, City of Greenville staff, contractors and vendors

 

The primary responsibilities only include essential functions of the job and does not imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.  Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instruction and to perform any other job-related duties requested by supervisor or management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Training or formal education in CAD, GIS or related field or equivalent work experience
  3. One year of directly related work in CAD and/or GIS
  4. Proficiency with standard GIS and CAD software; working knowledge of GPS preferred
  5. Working knowledge of plotters and wide format scanners and associated tools
  6. Experience and understanding of CAD and GIS purposes and concepts
  7. Knowledge or an interest in planning, zoning and surveying techniques a plus
  8. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management as well as customers, city and state personnel and personnel from other utilities

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

      1.   Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

  1. Light physical exertion (walking)

 

Pay Rate:  DOQ plus Benefits                                                        Full-Time Employment
