About First-Year Advising: 

First-Year Advising provides comprehensive guidance and support to first-year students as they transition to Texas State. Our mission is to empower students to make informed decisions about their academic and personal goals and connect them with the resources and opportunities to help them succeed.

Position Overview: 

We are looking for a creative and motivated Student Graphic Designer to join our First-Year Advising team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design and a keen eye for detail. You will be responsible for creating engaging and visually appealing graphics and materials that will support our advising and outreach efforts to first-year students.

Responsibilities: 

  • Content Creation and Design: Design engaging graphics and materials for digital and print media, including flyers, brochures, posters, and social media content. Ensure all materials adhere to university branding guidelines.
  • Collaborative Projects: Work closely with the advising team to conceptualize and execute design projects that effectively communicate our services and events to first-year students.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple design projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Digital Presence Maintenance: Assist in updating the First-Year Advising website and social media platforms with fresh, engaging visuals and content.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Current Enrollment: Must be a currently enrolled student at the university, maintaining good academic standing.
  • Graphic Design Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Portfolio:  A strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design skills and projects.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Design Experience: Prior experience in graphic design, especially within an academic or organizational context.
  • Creativity and Innovation: Exceptional creativity and an innovative approach to design, capable of generating visually appealing and effective communication materials.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Independence:  Ability to work independently, take initiative, and proactively solve problems with minimal supervision.
