Retail Specialist

Job Title: Retail Specialist 

 

FLSA Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt

 

Department: Retail Sales

 

Reports To:  Retail Operations and Business Services Manager

 

Location: Kodosky Service Center- Austin

 

Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM/ 3 days a week, and Saturday 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

 

Job Purpose: The Retail Sales Specialist is responsible for consistently providing the highest level of customer service for volunteers, caregivers and Girl Scouts, while selling merchandise from the shop. Operating the point of sales system (RMS) and consistently maintaining the visual merchandising of the sales floor are key to this position. Executing loss prevention practices as set by the Retail Operations Business Services Manager is a standard expectation of this position. Receiving new merchandise and stocking the sales floor in a timely manner as well as restocking from stockroom and maintaining an organized stockroom are essential duties.

 

Essential Functions

  • Provides high quality of customer service through consistently engaging customers in conversation, problem solving and using product knowledge to educate the customer.
  • Gain knowledge about all shop procedures and protocols including point of sale software, credit card machine, gift certificates, program credits, refunds and exchanges, and General Journal Entries.
  • Participates in maintaining a clean and organized sales floor ensuring displays are fresh and highlight new merchandise.
  • Responsible for providing support to Business Service functions in both daily routines (Logistics and distribution, production room and phone support) as well as special functions and future roles as needed.

Required Qualifications 

  • High school diploma 
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Working knowledge of point-of-sale software and credit card transaction procedures and/or willingness to learn.
  • A criminal background check and Yearly membership in GSUSA is required. 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Frequent, standing, walking, bending and twisting upper body. 
  • Capable of lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Capable of viewing computer monitor for long periods of time.
