The Summer Undergraduate Internship Program with the City of Round Rock is designed to provide an on-the-job opportunity to gain "real world" work experience in a career-related professional workforce environment.  

Examples of Duties

 

  • Assists with our Community Maps Program, Lease Agreement Digitization Project, QA/QC of Geodata project and other various projects/requests.
  • Provides entry-level GIS assistance on a variety of geospatial projects.
  • Assists with content curation and management.
  • Assists with data collection, compilation and data analysis.
  • Produces maps and other geospatial representations of data for public use and field work activity.
  • Records and documents details of metadata updates.

 

Experience and Training

 

Undergraduate Intern

  • Be enrolled full-time or a recent graduate of an accredited university or college
  • Must be classified as an Undergrad student and provide an unofficial transcript and resume
  • Must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0

Graduate Intern

  • Be enrolled full-time or a recent graduate of an accredited university or college
  • Must be classified as a Graduate student and provide an unofficial transcript and resume
  • Must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0

 

Certificates and Licenses Required

 

Preferred skills:

  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
  • Knowledge of GIS concepts and practices
  • Experience with cartography and creation of geospatial visualizations
