Staff Environmental Scientist / Field Technician

Phase Engineering is an environmental consulting firm that is headquartered in Houston, Texas. We are looking to fill an entry to mid-level position in our Dallas/Fort Worth location for a Staff Environmental Scientist / Field Technician. 

 

The Staff Environmental Scientist / Field Technician position may include any of the following aspects:

  • Conducting site inspections for properties primarily in Texas, but sometimes outside of the state, which could require traveling by vehicle or flying as needed. Overnight stays will sometimes be required. Must be able to perform in physically demanding conditions such as rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures. All travel and associated expenses are covered by Phase Engineering.
  • Preparation of figures and documents associated with various types of environmental due diligence projects.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with vendors.
  • Training and guided involvement with different aspects of due diligence reports.
  • Interpreting technical information and assisting with the preparation of technical report writing. 
  • Ongoing Environmental Professional (EP) development and training.
  • Must have a positive attitude, be team-oriented, maintain a strong work ethic, and have willingness to learn and execute new tasks. 

Requirements associated with this position are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field (Environmental Science or Engineering, Geology, Biology, Ecology, Chemistry, etc.)
  • 0-5 years’ experience in conducting environmental site assessments, field work and preparing report documentation.
  • Personable and able to communicate with people at all levels.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Must be a self-starter, resourceful and have the ability to work productively on multiple projects at a time under strict deadlines with guidance from senior staff.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Be able to work independently during fieldwork.
  • Present a professional appearance on behalf of the firm. 
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Earth and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and meet the company’s auto insurability requirements.
  • State regulatory knowledge is a plus.
