TWC Intern/Outreach and Employer Initiatives

TWC’s Outreach and Employer Initiatives division is seeking a full-time intern to assist withdivision outreach programs, workforce research, and ad-hoc requests related to industry andpolicy.


What kind of job is this?
The Outreach and Employer Initiatives (OEI) division interfaces with otheragency divisions, state agencies, workforce and economic development organizations, educators,and employers statewide. As an intern, you will work on initiatives that directly impact theeconomic growth and workforce development of Texas.


This position reports to the Deputy Division Director but works with staff from across the division.

 


Who We Are:
TWC connects people with careers all over the state. While we are headquartered on the northlawn of the Texas State Capitol in Austin, we have offices statewide.


Because of the nature of this position, the position will be a mix of in-office and limited telework.

 


What You’ll Do:
As an intern, you will use your skills to: respond to inquiries related to outreach and trainingprograms; update and maintain OEI’s Customer Relation Management system; assist with careerdevelopment materials for educational outreach programs; assist with ad-hoc requests related toindustry and policy; and other special projects as assigned.
This position will additionally be supervised by mid-level staff with ample opportunities forfeedback on assignments.

 


What You’ll Earn:
TWC Internships are full or part-time, temporary positions that cannot be filled for more thantwenty-four weeks. The internship pays $2,600 per month at a full-time status and comes withsome benefits.

What You Need to Get Hired:
-Excellent writing and editing skills
-Excellent organization, planning, and problem-solving skills
-Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
-Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in business, marketing,communications, economics, social sciences, government, or a related field
-Knowledge of the public K-12 school system is a bonus

 


Other Things We’ll be Looking for:
-Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED certification.
-Proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university must be provided.
-Professional proficiency in Spanish language is preferred.
-Continued enrollment may be required throughout internship.
