Job Summary:
 
We are looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to learn about our company’s role in health care. You will be working closely with most of our departments at various capacities. Volunteers will be exposed to business and clinical operations to help get an understanding of a healthcare workplace. Interns will also have the option to request and gain knowledge in any desired department to help further their skillset. (Clinical, Finance, Marketing, Bereavement, Quality Assurance, Social Psychology, Administrative)
 
As a Pre-Health Volunteers at Embrace Hospice, you will have the opportunity to:
 
  • Shadow physicians during interdisciplinary team meetings while building rapport for further shadowing and networking opportunities
  • Familiarize in assessing hospice patient and identify psychosocial, grief, financial, environmental and community needs as evidenced by POC documentation, clinical records, team meeting minutes and community resource referrals
  •  Familiarize yourself and get comfortable using professional EMR software
  • Learn how to take SOAP notes, review patient’s plan of care, and medical orders under the supervision of staff members
  • Work alongside patient care team of Physicians, NPs, RNs, Chaplains, Social Workers, and CNAs. 
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned
  • Fulfill tasks set out by supervisors from various departments (Clinical, Bereavement, HR and Marketing)
  • Take all reasonable precautions to maintain privacy and non-disclosure of any confidential information about patients, other staff members, and the general operations of Embrace Hospice
  • Demonstrates listening skills. Offers encouragement when appropriate. Practices patience in voice and manner.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedural guidelines.
  • Assist in administrative tasks at the office. (Filing, Reports, Organizing and more)
  • Under the direction and ongoing supervision of the registered nurse, visit patients and properly document the visit on our EMR platform
  • Assist the clinical staff and patient care team in providing proper care to hospice patient

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
 
Mental Requirements: Must be able to work independently, make judgment based on assessments and data available. and act accordingly. Must be flexible, innovative and possess good interpersonal skills. Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress and demonstrate emotional stability.

Transportation: Must have a current valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation.
