(1965) Jail Diversion Coordinator

This position is responsible for providing crisis assessment and jail diversion services within our 8-county area.  Jail Diversion should be considered following the directives outlined in Article 16.22 of the Code of Criminal Procedures.  This position requires a good working relationship with jail personnel and County Courts including the County and District Attorneys.  This position will follow ongoing protocols for identification of individuals who may be good candidates for diversion or at the very least for treatment within the jail system.  This position will attempt to minimize the length of stay for those incarcerated and willing to follow outpatient protocols and recommendations of the courts.

This is a Monday through Friday, non-exempt, primarily field-based position with flexible hours and some evening and weekend on-call hours required.

The person in this position must possess a passion and aptitude for working with individuals who have chronic and severe mental health needs and are involved in the criminal justice system. Knowledge of psychotherapeutic medications, intensive case management functions, substance use treatment, crisis services, community resources, and evidence-based practices in the mental health and criminal justice systems are required. This position necessitates innovative thinking, patience, resiliency, skills in advocacy, service coordination, mental health assessment and evaluation, collaborative person-centered recovery planning and dual-diagnosis treatment. The person in this position will effectively work independently and on a team, prioritize needs during crisis situations, engage in regular meetings and training opportunities, balance self-care, be a delight to work with, and perform other duties as assigned with a positive attitude.

Salary: $21.46 - $28.21/hr

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field.  Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment.
*If degree is not in Human Services field, must have 24 credit hours in human services*

Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual (English/Spanish); two (2) years previous crisis/intake experience.
