Technical Student Worker - Summer 2023 Work Study

Job Description:
The Division of Student Success Technology Services is looking for a student assistant to help support the needs of our users. This position will work closely with full time staff. Primary job responsibilities include inventory management, desktop software support, application patching and aid in other miscellaneous tasks. The position will engage with a variety of staff. You must be able to handle phone calls, e-mails, in-person conversations, and chat sessions while maintaining a polite and respectful attitude at all times.
 
Job Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Receive and inventory equipment
  • Log detailed and accurate descriptions of each customer contact into a service management ticketing database
  • Greet customers and effectively and tactfully communicate technical issues to non-technical people
  • Provide in person computer tech support for university computer-based systems
  • Update computer applications
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose software and hardware issues
  • Research new and unfamiliar issues in provided knowledge guides or online
 
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Be an energetic self-starter who can take direction
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working and collaborating with multiple departments
  • Knowledge of contemporary operating systems and office productivity software is preferred but not required
