Fall 2022 Silicon Solutions Power and Performance Co-op - (170601)
What you do at AMD changes everything
At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible. We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.
Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results. It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world. If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.
AMD’s Strategic Silicon Solutions group is responsible for custom silicon for advanced gaming platforms such as XBOX, PlayStation, and Steam Deck. The firmware and settings of each new product must be tuned to enable best-case performance and power. As part of the tuning process engineers run benchmarks on prototype systems and measure power and performance. The team analyzes the data and provides feedback to manufacturing, software development, architects, and business development to facilitate decisions to ensure devices meet the desired specifications and to make decisions about future product directions.
The Power and Performance Optimization (PPO) team is looking for an engineering intern to help enhance its test automation and data analysis capabilities. You will see the direct results of your efforts in consumer products you and your friends use and enjoy every day.
PPO team members have opportunities to learn about system architecture and manufacturing processes along with how different platform features work together to impact power and performance.
The work is onsite in Austin, Texas.
