Manufacturing Engineer Intern Fall 2022

Division Information:


Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company, is headquartered in McKinney, TX. a suburb of Dallas. Dynacraft is a diversified global manufacturer of PACCAR medium- and heavy-duty truck parts sold under Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates. For fifty years Dynacraft has provided the company’s truck divisions and PACCAR Parts division with high quality components, subassemblies, and specialized services. Dynacraft has production facilities in Louisville, KY, and McKinney, TX.

Job Functions / Responsibilities:


  • Provide technical support to the engineering department on AutoCAD layouts, Engineering Change Notice (ECN) and new business.
  • Perform feasibility studies and provide tooling, space and labor estimates for new business opportunities. 
  • Design and establish assembly methods for new work centers; procure and setup tooling and equipment for these new work centers to meet safety, quality and productivity goals.
  • Improve productivity of and reduce the floor space required by existing product lines through update of AutoCAD layouts and suggestions.
  • Support the plant quality process through mistake proofing new and existing business production operations.
  • Assist Engineering team with Identifying, justifying and implementing capital equipment projects.
  • Reviews engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommends changes, as necessary.
  • Designs and implements shop aids and fixtures.
  • As company need dictates primary project may be identified and assigned as the primary area of work and focus during the duration of co-op rotation.
  • Completion of Root Cause Analysis of a Major Engineering Problem.
  • Presentation of final project and Root Cause Analysis to upper Management.
  • Candidate must have the flexibility to work 2nd shift and weekends as required.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Qualified applicants will be detailed oriented, well organized and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Applicants must be able to multi-task, prioritize, successfully handle pressure, and work/make decisions independently when required.
  • Successful candidate is safety-conscious, self-motivated, a team player, and is able to think proactively.
  • Applicant should have basic understanding of Six Sigma practices, a basic understanding of Six Sigma Minitab software is a plus.

Education and Training Required:


  • Currently enrolled in a BS/BA or MS program with a mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering degree focus. Minimum qualifications include completion of sophomore year in a engineering program leading to a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicant should have excellent PC skills; including Word, Excel and Access, AutoCAD, ProEngineer software experience is a plus.
  • Candidate must have the flexibility to work 2nd shift and weekends.
  • Any manufacturing experience or previous co-op/intern preferred; Automotive preferred
