Product Knowledge Internship (Fall 2022)

Disclaimer: This position is expected to start around August or September 2022 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e. through December/January) or into early Spring 2023 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, for most internships. Please consider before submitting an application.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time depending on their academic standing.

The Internship Recruiting Team is driven by the passion to recognize emerging talent. Our year around program places the best students in positions that they will grow both technically and personally through their experience working closely with their Manager, Mentor, and team. We are dedicated to providing an experience that allows for the intern to experience life at Tesla by given them projects that are critical to their team’s success. 

Instead of going on coffee runs and making copies, you’ll be seated at the table making critical decisions that will influence not only your team, but the overall achievement of Tesla’s mission.

About the Team

Tesla’s Product Knowledge team is responsible for ensuring that Tesla’s global employees and customers are knowledgeable about Tesla’s products and the ways in which they contribute to Tesla’s mission. Our team manages company-wide product updates, supports events, and partners with technical and non-technical teams throughout the business on product messaging. We pride ourselves on creating fun, engaging, accessible, learner-friendly content that models Tesla culture and results in employees and customers alike feeling confident in and connected to Tesla’s products. This educational content includes internal communications, reference guides, online courses, live instructor-led sessions, and, notably, videos. We cover our solar, energy storage vehicle offerings, their accessories, and the software and firmware that support them. We’re a small, highly visible team with a large and important body of work. As such, the pace is fast and change is constant. We’re always juggling multiple projects. We also benefit from a huge variety of work (no two weeks are the same) and we have fun doing it. Plus, we get to work closely with the most exciting products in the world.  

As Product Knowledge intern, you will work both independently and in partnership with other members of the team to plan, produce, edit, and deliver educational videos. Your role will be completely integrated into the full scope of the team which includes: 

  • Production of content 
  • Tracking product updates, 
  • Building and maintaining your own Tesla product knowledge

We're looking for someone who communicates effortlessly and who has a genuine passion for producing media that promotes learning. You should be eager to contribute artistically at each point in the production process and insist on having fun while doing so. You’ll be shooting in-studio and on-site. Fast-paced collaboration will be necessary to crystalize ideas and deliver a message that captures attention, inspires change, and supports learning objectives. You’ll thrive if eager to learn, open to feedback, and outspoken with your ideas. You’ll love your work if you lean into change and take a genuine interest in the products with which you’ll be working

Responsibilities: 

  • Pre-production:
  • Collaborate on intake of content requests 
  • Propose media solutions 
  • Coordinate deadlines 
  • Organize production resources • Production: 
  • Assist with shooting movies using different camera techniques
  • Assist with running sound and light set-up for in-studio and on-location 
  • Manage on-screen talent to visually reproduce precise human interactions using standard visual composition and exposure theory 
  • Post-production:
  • Use editing tools to adhere to corporate guidelines and visual standards 
  • Produce, edit and contribute to educational content of all kinds 
  • Assist with maintaining and expanding our internal knowledge base 
  • Manage multiple projects with changing scopes and timelines 
  • Support pressing video needs from elsewhere in the business 

Requirements:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student actively studying film or video production 
  • Experience with filming, editing and producing video
  • Experience with editing software is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fast learner who thrives in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
