Office Assistant – University College, Office of the Dean (Spring 2022 Work Study)

University College is looking for motivated and enthusiastic student workers support the Dean and administrative staff. Time expectations are typically 15 to 20 hours per week during the long semesters, with some nights and weekends. Summer hours are available. Pay rate is $12.00 per hour. The position is located on the San Marcos campus in the Undergraduate Academic Center (UAC). Employment starts on or after January 18, 2022.

General Description
Provides quality administrative support to University College staff, faculty, and students ensuring all receive exemplary customer service and administrative support in a personalized and timely manner.
 
Examples of Duties
Greet and assist students visiting the University College Office of the Dean and the departments therein
Confidentially maintain student records including data entry, indexing, and verifying documents in the SIS (Banner Document Management System)
Answer telephones, screen or answer routine and complex questions; connect students to resources as needed, transfer calls, and take messages
Maintain the Undergraduate Academic Center facility, ensuring custodial and maintenance issues are identified and reported promptly
Assist with meeting preparations, conference room preparation, hospitality, ushering, prepare/assemble documents, and materials
Uphold punctuality as a priority
Dress appropriately for an office environment
Other duties as assigned, such as delivering items to campus departments and light housekeeping duties
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Applicants must also be organized, detail-oriented, and demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
Application materials (e.g., resume and cover letter) must be free of grammatical and spelling errors
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer proficiency is required
A positive attitude combined with integrity and dependability is essential for all University College staff
Knowledge of the various programs within University College
Knowledge of the functions of Texas State University Offices and Departments across campus
 
Experience and Education
Only Texas State University students may apply for this position. Customer service experience, a plus. A Texas State GPA of at least 3.0 is preferred.
