Student Employee | Spring 2022 Work Study

The student worker provides quality administrative support to the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies faculty and staff, ensuring Texas State University students, parents and visitors receive accurate assistance in a personalized and timely manner. Applicants should be familiar with the MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher), social media, email and internet.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Greeting and assisting all students and visitors to the department promptly and professionally.
 2. Answering telephones using proper telephone etiquette and taking detailed messages as required.
 3. Assisting faculty and staff as required.
 4. Data entry and creating documents.
 5. Running errands/documents to other buildings on campus as required.
 6. Unlocking and locking classrooms and labs within the department as required.
 7. Assisting with room reservations.
 8. Copying, filing, shredding and scanning correctly and in a timely manner.
 9. Ensuring work areas and copy rooms are stocked with supplies, as well as ensuring a sufficient inventory of supplies is available. 
10 . Using all department copy machines in a cost effective and time efficient manner as well as resolving copy machine jams, loading toner, and restocking paper.
 11. Distributing departmental mail on a daily basis, ensuring all mail is put into the correct faculty, adjunct faculty, PhD student, Master student, department center, or staff mailbox.
 12. Emptying recycle bins/boxes and breaking down boxes as needed.
 13. Inventory all office and printer supplies each Friday.
 14. Assisting in creating, printing and posting reference materials and documents used by the department in the course of a semester.
 15. Assisting with meeting and event planning and preparations.
 16. Other duties as assigned, AND
 17. All student workers are required to work a minimum of one (1) 4 hour shift at the Geography and Environmental Studies department’s Annual Alumni Reunion & Student Celebration, which is held the last Saturday in April each year. Assist with various duties that may include setting up, registration, clean up, tear down, and any other assigned duties.
