Part-Time Special Education Teacher | San Marcos

Part-time Special Education Teacher                                                                                    
This position requires the ability to apply knowledge of current education and instructional theories, methodologies, techniques, and principles, knowledge of subject matter, and knowledge of State, Local, and Federal laws and regulations affecting the lives and education of students.

Qualification: Position requires a valid Texas teaching certificate in the subject and level of assignment. In addition, individuals in core academic subject areas must meet the highly qualified teacher requirements as per the No Child Left Behind Act.

Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsement for subject and level assigned, or
Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of industry experience relevant to teaching in the core subject area or
10or more successful years of classroom experience as an Educational Aide with less than 15 college credits remaining towards degree completion in the field of education.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Implement various teaching methods to promote learning and provide individualized instruction to children with learning disabilities and/or special needs in grades K-6.
2. Collaborate with content area teachers to modify curriculum and provide accommodations in order to meet the specifications of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
3. Develop IEPs and complete paper work for Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
4. Monitor and record student progress toward annual goals as outlined in IEPs.

Additional Skills: be able to successfully use the computer, interactive white board, document camera, digital camera and software necessary for administrative and educational tasks.

Starting Salary: 27,500.00
