Marketing Department - Marketing Design

Department Description: The Marketing Department oversees the majority of the Austin Film Festival’s Marketing efforts. Such efforts include (but are not limited to): Grassroots Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Online Digital Marketing, Print, Television Ads, Radio Ads, and more. The Marketing Department often collaborates with all other departments within the organization to ensure Austin Film Festival’s mission reaches the broadest possible audience.
 
Job Description: Austin Film Festival is seeking a Design Intern to help with various print and digital design projects throughout the year. The position provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in practical graphic design, copy writing, and copy editing.
 
Job Responsibilities: 
Working under the guidance of the Marketing Coordinator and Marketing Director, the Design Intern will have the following duties:
  • Assist the Marketing Department with multiple print and digital design projects
  • Provide production and design support on a wide variety of digital and print projects
  • Create custom icons and graphics
  • Create fact sheets, flyers, postcards, and other collateral material
  • Update general templated materials for departments across the organization
  • Help manage the print and design calendar
  • Download and organize event photos, edit/resize photos, research stock photos
  • Maintain organization of shared assets across departments
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Project Ownership Opportunities: 
The Marketing Design Intern will own multiple design projects for various AFF Inter-Department needs throughout the year. Examples include (but are not limited to) designing flyers for the Summer Film Camp Program, graphics for print trade ads that promote AFF’s Film & Screenplay Competitions, digital graphics for an AFF Sales Promotion, etc.
 
Interns will get the opportunity to: 
  • Have their work possibly published and used by Austin Film Festival.
 
Qualifications: 
  • One year of related college or professional experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud programs including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Proven skills in typography, layout, and branding
  • Enthusiasm for new design trends and resources
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with web based best practices including social media trends
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS
  • Detail oriented candidate with strong time management skills
  • Self-starter with an ability to collaborate effectively
 
Timeframe: Full year, through the Festival (no Summer only internships)
