GARDEN/GREENHOUSE/COMPOST TECHNICIAN | Summer 2021 Work Study

The Bobcat Horticulture program is part of the Agricultural Sciences Department at Texas State University. The Horticulture program manages 2 greenhouses, the Living Library gardens, the Bobcat Bloom campus flower shop program and the Bobcat Blend composting operation.

The main priorities of this position are to help to maintain the Horticulture greenhouses and Living Library gardens around the Agriculture Building. Duties require students working outside in the weather and in the greenhouse. Students will be involved with watering, planting, mulching and maintaining outdoor garden plots. Students will also help with propagating plants from seeds and/or cuttings, helping with the Bobcat Bloom floral sales and deliveries and/or building patios and retaining walls. Students must have a good attitude, be willing to get dirty/hot/sweaty/cold sometimes, and work well with a team as well as independently. While the schedule is flexible and can include evenings or weekends, students should be willing to work a regular schedule weekly. We are also hiring for the compost project if you prefer making compost.
