About this Job

About Us

Welcome to the Service-Learning Excellence (SLE) Program at Texas State University! We serve around 2,000 students every year and contribute around 2.8 million dollars to local community. Our Goal is to engage students in hands-on experiential learning environment to learn course objectives while also benefiting a community partner.

Credit is given for the learning that takes place, not simply for completing service hours. Service-Learning is different from community service, internships, or field study experiences because the service activity is connected to the course(s) learning objectives through reflection and critical analysis, balancing benefits to the student with benefits to the community partners. Experiential learning classes and programs fall under the guidance of the SLE Program.
