Habitat Field Crew Student Employees | Spring 2021 Work Study

Student workers will primarily be assisting with habitat restoration efforts in the San Marcos river in compliance with the Edwards Aquifer Habitat Conservation Plan ( http://www.eahcp.org/ ). There may also be opportunities to assist with our UAV flight operations and post-processing of imagery.

-removal of submersed non-native aquatic vegetation

-expanding/planting native aquatic vegetation in the river 

-collection and propagation of native plants in our aquatic nursery

-assisting with annual vegetation surveys

Requirements:

Must be able to swim

Must be comfortable working in water for long periods of time in variable weather

Able to stay on task while working in a group or independently 

Capable of repeatedly lifting 50lbs

SCUBA certified 

Knowledge of local aquatic flora 

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and ArcMap

Wildlife, Aquatic, Biology and Natural Resource Majors preferred
