Fall 2026 | Personal Trainer
Texas State Campus Recreation is seeking dedicated, knowledgeable, and certified Personal Trainers to deliver individualized exercise programming and fitness coaching to university students, faculty, and staff. Trainers are responsible for conducting client assessments, designing evidence-based training programs, and coaching patrons on proper movement patterns while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment. This position reports directly to the Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness and the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness.
Qualifications
- Active Personal Training Certification through a nationally accredited organization (e.g., ACE, NASM, NSCA, ACSM). Certification is required to interview.
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (American Red Cross preferred) or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire and prior to training independently.
- Current enrollment as a student at Texas State University.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial client fitness assessments, establish SMART goals, and perform regular re-assessments to track progress.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver safe, personalized, and effective workout sessions.
- Maintain an active roster of at least two clients while employed with the Fitness & Wellness team.
- Manage client schedules and log completed sessions using the DSE online dashboard.
- Promote personal training services and Campus Recreation initiatives.
- Properly maintain fitness equipment and department spaces.
- Attend all mandatory semester meetings, in-service sessions, and continuing education opportunities.
- Follow all emergency procedures and safety protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
